826 Valencia is dedicated to supporting under-resourced students ages six to eighteen with their creative and expository writing skills and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. Our services are structured around the understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success. We comprise three writing centers—our flagship location in the Mission District, a center in the Tenderloin neighborhood, and a new center on the ground floor of an affordable housing building in Mission Bay —and three satellite classrooms at nearby public schools. All of our programs are offered free of charge to make them accessible to the students who would not otherwise be able to access our support.
