Americas Unite

Americas Unite is a US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed in 2020 to facilitate programs that provide food assistance and other social services to vulnerable populations. Currently Americas Unite finances and runs Manos Amigues, the first LGBTQ Community Center in Mexico City, serving 5,000 meals per month to vulnerable populations including homeless people, people with disabilities, the elderly, the growing migrant population in Mexico City, families with children living in extreme poverty, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. The cultural center in Manos Amigues provides food for the soul of those we serve, presenting a variety of live music, theater, poetry, dance, vogue balls, DJs, and film screenings each week. Manos Amigues is led by LGBTQ+ individuals to ensure a safe space for members of our community who often face debilitating discrimination; however, our doors are open to anyone who needs a hot meal, thus creating a beautiful bond between people and communities with very diverse backgrounds and life experiences. We also serves as a distribution center for in-kind donations, including, but not limited to, clothing, shoes, toys and blankets, and provide regular HIV/ITS testing and education to those we serve. Food security and freedom of expression are the first steps to unlocking the potential of all people. We have seen firsthand how food assistance combined with cultural programming empowers individuals and strengthens communities towards a brighter future for all.
