Dilworth Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry
The Dilworth Soup Kitchen is a nonprofit soup kitchen and food pantry striving to combat food insecurity in our community. We provide free, nutritious meals every Monday and Friday as well as free groceries to our neighbors in need every week of the year, regardless of their circumstances. We have recently remodeled our Food Pantry with industrial shelving and various refrigeration units. We will provide our guests with families the opportunity to shop for three days of fresh and nonperishable groceries by appointment in our Food Pantry. We treat everyone with dignity and respect, setting no requirements and with no questions asked. We operate with an all-volunteer team and have no paid staff. 100% of all donations go directly to feeding the hungry.Services ProvidedThis year we will serve over 21,000 lunches every Monday and Friday. Additionally, we will distribute over 20,000 pounds of fresh groceries and 46,000 pounds of non-perishable foods to our guests. DSK has also expanded its outreach program and is hand-delivering food to those people in need who are unable to come to us. Edwin Tower and Charlottetown Terrace, two low-income Charlotte Housing Authority apartments for seniors and the disabled located in the Dilworth area are a part of our outreach program as well as Mindful Missions which delivers our lunches to impoverished CMS families in Charlotte. We have also recently opened our new Food Pantry where our guests, by appointment, will be able to shop for three days of groceries, both fresh and non-perishable for their families.
