Fourth Street Clinic began in 1988 as a triage clinic with one part-time nurse; the clinic relied on hospitals for patient treatment. Today, it operates with over 60 people on staff and more than 150 networked community volunteer providers. Comprehensive health care was delivered to 5,169 homeless men, women and children in 2019-all over 24,000 primary, behavioral, dental and specialty care visit, including our Nurse Care Management / Mobile Clinic that is onsite at 6 community partners (YWCA Utah, VOA Utah, Housing Connect, The Road Home, First Step House and Catholic Community Services) at 11 locations. The pharmacy at Fourth Street Clinic dispensed over 47,000 prescriptions last year. The clinic accepts health insurance, but it is not required. Patients are charged on a sliding fee scale based on the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). Individuals who fall below 100% of the FPL are not assessed a fee; 93% of patients served at the clinic fall in this range.
