Second Day builds on the promise of higher education to support the dreams of students from low-income backgrounds to unlock social mobility and to support their home communities. Far too often, those with the ‘right’ network and an understanding of the unspoken etiquette of the job search process are the ones who end up ahead. Second Day is changing these norms with paid internships at nonprofits, extensive mentorship, and training on how to navigate the job search process. We support students on a path to leadership to get their first break into social impact post-graduation via full-time jobs or fellowships. Second Day is transforming talent pipelines into the social sector, taking on the racial leadership gap, and building a sector with our most effective leaders at the helm. They are dismantling inequitable talent pipelines into the social sector through skill development, mentorship, and career planning.
Our students are doing everything from launching mental health tech platforms to leading environmental justice advocacy groups. We currently offer two programs for undergraduate students:
- The Impact Fellowship: The Second Day Impact Fellowship is a launchpad for college seniors who are ready to jump in and start making a difference now. The program connects you with a paid internship at a top nonprofit or social enterprise, extensive skill-building, community collaboration, and support for thriving during the year and beyond.
- Community Scholars Program: This crash-course-meets-community program has been uniquely designed for college students who are looking for industry deep-dives, professional development, job search training, and individual mentorship to jumpstart careers dedicated to social change. Whether you’re just exploring or narrowed in on exactly what you want, this is the place to jumpstart your social impact career development.

- In most cases, donations are processed through our 501(c)(3) Donatestock Charitable, Inc. Gifts are converted to cash and the proceeds are distributed to the recipient within 1 or 2 weeks, depending on the plan they chose.
- There is no cost to donors or financial advisors. The nonprofit beneficiary pays a modest transaction fee for making non-cash giving easy for donors and the nonprofit’s team.
