Health by Design collaborates across sectors and disciplines to ensure communities in Indiana and beyond have neighborhoods, public spaces, and infrastructure that promote healthy, active living. Health by Designs program and policy efforts are directed at increasing equitable, safe, accessible, convenient, and connected options for walking, biking, and public transit and encouraging responsible land use. We offer content expertise on several topics, including: Accessibility, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); Active Living; Complete Streets; Placemaking; Land Use and Transportation Planning; Safe Routes to key Destinations, such as Schools, Parks, Transit, and Food; Vision Zero; and Vulnerable Road User Safety. We achieve our goals by: Advocating for policy change; Building community capacity; Convening diverse partners; Educating on best practices; Evaluating impact; Facilitating dialogue; Promoting smart design; and Providing technical assistance.
