The Bowery Mission has served New Yorkers experiencing homelessness, hunger and poverty since the 1870s. Today, it continues its legacy of providing meals, shelter, and other basic needs services, while also offering a full residential continuum of care helping New Yorkers overcome poverty for good. Programs and services at six locations provide basic needs services daily to the community as well as residential housing and wraparound services for adults. The organization's Children's Programs, Mont Lawn Camp and City Camp, provide year-round mentoring and enrichment opportunities for youth living in low-income neighborhoods. Last year, The Bowery Mission provided 429,500 meals, 104,000 nights of shelter, 27,600 articles of clothing, 67,500 emergency showers and 1,500 onsite medical and optometry exams. Additionally, the organization served 321 adults in its residential programs and 225 children and youth through its year-round enrichment programs.
