We Put People to Work!
Goodwill Industries of North Louisiana is all about putting people to work. Our focus is taking donated items and turning them into revenue, which is then used to fund job placement and training programs, to any youth or adults with barriers, living in the 26 parishes of North Louisiana. Barriers to employment could be anything that is preventing someone from finding a job, from a disability to a criminal background, to not knowing anyone in the area. Specifically, we have programs in Shreveport, Bossier City, Monroe, Alexandria and Natchitoches that are dedicating to serving people with disabilities, criminal backgrounds, youth in the foster care system, those who have dropped out of high school, or anyone that walks through our door needing help. Everyone deserves a chance to be successful and support their families. Goodwill provides that chance and gives them a sense of purpose. And the best part is our services are FREE (thanks to our store sales and grants)!
Last year, Goodwill operated more than 19 workforce development programs at one of the six Goodwill Job Centers supporting the 26 parishes of North Louisiana. Annually, these programs serve more than 1,500 individuals with disadvantages and/or disabilities and placed more than 400 individuals into successful community employment. The job retention rate of these individuals employed at 90 days averages more than 85%, with an average wage of $9.47 per hour.
