Scotty’s House provides hope, healing, and restoration to the most severely abused children in the Brazos Valley. Our goal at Scotty’s House is to minimize the trauma an abused child experiences as their case moves through the civil and criminal justice system, in addition to providing direct services that promote healing and long-term well-being.
Scotty's House was founded in 1995 in honor of Scotty, the son of a local pediatrician, Kathleen Burford. Seven months after being abducted from his daycare center, four-year-old Scotty was shot to death by his father, Dr. Phillip Linerode, as FBI agents closed in to recover the abducted child in March 1982. Scotty's House is dedicated to the memory of Scotty, and all children who have suffered abuse and/or neglect.
Today, Scotty’s House provides safety, healing, and justice for children victimized by abuse through professional assessment, counseling, and education in a compassionate and collaborative approach. We provide a child-friendly environment for nearly 700 child clients each year.
The Scotty's House team is an experienced group of professional counselors, forensic experts, and administrators who care deeply about our Brazos Valley community. All services necessary to the healing process, including forensic medical exams and interviews, family advocacy services, and counseling, are provided to clients and their family members free of charge.
