Water for South Sudan

Watering the Seeds of Change in South Sudan

Water for South Sudan (WFSS) delivers direct, transformative, and sustainable quality-of-life service to the people of South Sudan by efficiently providing access to clean, safe water and improving hygiene and sanitation practices in areas of great need. We are committed to sustainable growth, continuously seeking ways to drive progress, and our interactions and services are delivered with warmth, sincerity, and compassion. We leverage our existing resources and partnerships to maximize our impact, and our collaborative approach multiplies the results in the communities we serve.

Our locally hired, 100% South Sudanese team leads all of our water, sanitation, and hygiene programs in the rural communities we serve. Speaking the languages and understanding the customs of the communities we work in means our projects are long-lasting and continue to provide communities in need with invaluable and sustainable WASH programs to create healthier and prosperous communities.

Since 2005, Water for South Sudan (WFSS) has drilled over 640 wells, delivering clean water and hygiene education to remote communities across South Sudan. With a strong focus on long-term impact and sustainability, we launched a well rehabilitation program in 2017 that has renewed functionality for more than 450 of our oldest wells, extending the life and value of our original investments. In 2018, we expanded our reach to include latrine facilities. Since then, we've constructed and rehabilitated 34 latrine facilities, further improving community health. In 2021, we introduced a transformative water storage and distribution initiative, featuring solar-powered wells, elevated water towers, and underground piping. These systems now provide consistent access to safe water for 2,000–5,000 people each, with 11 systems built to date.

Donations of stock help us scale these high-impact, capital-efficient solutions—allowing your gift to grow in value and deepen its long-term reach across South Sudan.
