Diversity Through Dance
City Ballet of Boston's mission is two-fold: to showcase diversity on stage through innovative, professional dance productions, and to train and empower young dancers with the confidence to succeed in the dance world. We provide exceptional performances and dance education for all, regardless of age, race, or background. We believe that diversity heightens creativity, and that hard work, inclusivity, and love of the arts are key to both cultural education and excellence in dance. We are dedicated to providing opportunities to underserved youth, particularly those who identify as people of color, because we believe that ballet is for everyone. Our motto is "Diversity Through Dance," and celebrating diversity is the core of our work. We recognize the historical inequities in ballet, and know that talent exists everywhere, but opportunities do not. We remove barriers to quality training and professional pathways through tuition-free programming, affirmative outreach for Black and brown dancers, and inclusive spaces where every dancer can see themselves onstage and feel valued.
