The mission of Honolulu Theatre for Youth (HTY) is to produce professional theatre and drama education programs that make a difference in the lives of young people, families and educators in the State of Hawaii. As the only professional nonprofit theatre in the State and the largest independent provider of arts education in Hawaii, the company has long played a leading role in the region. Founded in 1955, HTY is best known for its long history of innovative drama education programming and the creation of original theatrical work for young people. Annually, HTY produces 6-8 plays and drama education workshops that benefit 100,000 people statewide. HTY is dedicated to serving all young people in Hawaii, regardless of their geographic, social, cultural or economic background. With a resident company of professional artists and educators, it is one of the largest employers of professional artists in Hawaii.
