Kids Matter has been working every day to improve the quality of life of children living at or below poverty level since our inception as a non-profit organization in 2006. Through our work to enhance the lives of these children and their families, we still witness an overwhelming number of disadvantaged children who are in need of basic necessities like clothing and food, school supplies, and books. You can make a big difference in the life of a child living in poverty.
Our core programs include: Around-the-Block new clothing/shoe program. We serve over 2,000 per year an provide new clothes/shoes to prepare each child for the winter months. Each child receives $100 to spend on new clothing. Through our partnership with KOHLS and Twisted X shoes, they can parlay the $100 into $350 - $450 in new items. For a majority of these children, it is the first time they are receiving new clothes versus hand-me-downs or clothes from second-hand stores. We also focus on literacy through the RampUp Reading Program whereby over 15,000 new books are distributed to kids to encourage them to read and learn about all different topics of interest.
