CONNECTING COMMUNITIES THROUGH CULTURE
Because of our generous founding board, leadership, sponsors, and patrons, for 26 years, Kirkland Performance Center (KPC) has been a cornerstone of cultural enrichment in our community, showcasing a diverse array of talent from Grammy and Tony winners to local schoolchildren. With the launch of KPC Studios in 2024, we continue to expand our educational programs and community outreach, reinforcing our mission to connect communities through the performing arts.
GROWTH AND TRANSFORMATION
The Eastside has seen a population boom, growing by 15% from 2014 to 2024, underscoring the need for a vibrant cultural hub. While many initiatives for connecting communities through culture have come and gone, for the past 26 years KPC has been a steadfast beacon of creativity adapting and evolving to meet the Eastside’s changing needs. Despite challenges like the COVID pandemic, we’ve remained committed to providing exceptional live performances, cultural events, and arts education, enhancing the quality of life for countless residents.
COMMUNITY BENEFITS OF LIVE PERFORMING ARTS
Live performing arts and education programs significantly benefit our region’s diverse communities. KPC boosts the local economy through patrons supporting the tourism & hospitality industries, provides a solution to local public education defunded arts programs, serves the under-resourced, and builds community.
Shared live performing arts experiences reduce stress, enhance mood, and promote social bonding. Audiences engage in a collective emotional journey by coming together to enjoy music, theater, and other performances, fostering empathy and understanding. This communal engagement supports mental health by reducing feelings of isolation and building stronger social connections.
A VISION FOR THE FUTURE
As we look forward to the next 25 years, KPC is poised to elevate our impact further. The “Elevate KPC” campaign aims to raise $5.2 million to modernize our beloved theater. With $3.7 million already secured through generous donations from the State of Washington, the City of Kirkland, corporate partnerships, and individual donors, we need your help to raise the final $1.5 million.
THE PLAN
The funds will be used to:
-Replace and upgrade the stage, rigging, seats, and electrical grid
-Enhance patron experience and amenities in the lobby and house
-Improve exterior and interior lighting, repaint the facility, add technical upgrades, and secure KPC as the crown jewel of intimate theaters in our region.
-Cover staffing and operations during the renovation period in early 2025
-These upgrades are crucial to maintaining safety standards and ensuring that KPC remains a state-of-the-art venue for performers and audiences alike.
