Minds Matter connects driven and determined students from low income families with the people, possibilities and preparation to succeed in college, create their futures and change the world. This comprehensive and highly successful multi-year program empowers young people to achieve college readiness and success. The organization was founded in New York City in 1991 by six Wall Street professionals who understood that the gap in low-income student achievement was related to insignificant resources. Minds Matter has developed a successful program incorporating tutoring, mentoring, extra academics, internships, and other enrichment experiences preparing students for bright futures.
Now serving 14 U.S. cities, Minds Matter is volunteer-driven with over 2,500 volunteers engaged in its work across the country. Through an intensive and holistic mentoring and academic program, the nonprofit provides a culture of excellence and rigorous performance standards for students. Minds Matter achieves a 100% college acceptance rate for its students at quality institutions across the country. Being a graduate of Minds Matter is a mark of hard work, commitment, and achievement to potential colleges and employers.
