The Sarara Foundation (TSF) partners with the Indigenous Samburu people of Northern Kenya to preserve biodiversity, protect cultural independence, and strengthen community-led conservation. At the heart of this mission is Reteti Elephant Sanctuary – the world’s first Indigenous-owned African elephant sanctuary – and a testament to what’s possible when local communities lead. Through Reteti and other transformative initiatives spanning education, healthcare, economic opportunity, and environmental stewardship, TSF supports thriving ecosystems and resilient livelihoods across the Namunyak Community Conservancy.
