Sisu Refuge is a 501(c)3 nonprofit animal sanctuary specializing in urgent rescue, advanced medical treatments, and end-of-life care for rescued farmed animals - particularly large-breed pigs saved from commercial farming operations, hoarding, and criminal cruelty cases.
Founded in February 2019, Sisu Refuge has directly rescued over 1,000 animals and has provided critical placement support and emergency coordination for countless others. Through immersive online storytelling and educational outreach, we have reached hundreds of millions of people worldwide - connecting individuals to the real lives behind the labels of “farmed animals” and inspiring tangible shifts toward compassion-based choices, especially through diet and lifestyle.
Our mission is twofold: to provide an exceptional quality of life for each animal in our care, and to inspire people to make choices that reduce harm and suffering - for animals, people, and the planet.
At Sisu Refuge, we place special emphasis on dignified palliative, hospice, and end-of-life care for aging and senior large-breed pigs who are often overlooked. Our work centers on advanced medical care, comfort, and close monitoring to ensure that every animal is seen, valued, and supported through every stage of life.
Farmed animals are among the most abused and exploited beings on earth, and we exist to ensure that those who need compassion the most are never abandoned. By exposing the hidden realities of factory farming and celebrating the resilience and individuality of our residents, we aim to inspire transformative change and create a kinder, more sustainable future.
