Southfair Community Development Corporation
Revitalizing the South Dallas Community
SouthFair Community Development Corporation was established October 1, 1991 by Linda (Walker) Bender. Linda had the foresight and vision to create a nonprofit that would become the backbone of thoughtful, people first housing and economic development for low to moderate families in the South Dallas/Fair Park area, in particular the Jeffries-Meyers neighborhood.
Over the years, SouthFair and the community have relished in good times and strived to continue moving forward in slower times. With close to thirty years of experience, SouthFair has served thousands of clients, including residents of its primary target area of South Dallas and qualified low to moderate-income clients from all areas of the Dallas Metroplex.
SouthFair continues to do the work in the community that Linda is so passionate about. The Board of Directors and Staff aim to keep doing the work for many years to come.
SouthFair’s mission is to provide sustainable (affordable) housing for low- and moderate-income families through multifamily, single family, economic development, homebuyer counseling and through connectivity of social services. Our objective is to expand the housing and economic development opportunities, while striving to promote the stabilization of community institutions and assets. Our key strategy is effectively partnering with public and private resources to successfully launch and sustain redevelopment efforts.
